Discussing the Potential of Artificial Intelligence in Healthcare at the FCAI Health SIG meeting
The new year for the AI-Mind project begins with a wealth of new opportunities and insights. On 10th January 2023, Prof. Hanna Renvall from Helsinki University Hospital (HUS), was invited as a guest speaker at the Finnish Center for Artificial Intelligence (FCAI) Health SIG seminar on “AI for Health” which took place in Espoo, Finland.
The seminar focused on the application of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in healthcare and its potential to revolutionise medical care through personalised medicine. The programme of the seminar featured talks by experts in the field, who shared their insights on a wide range of healthcare topics such as the use of AI in diagnostic procedures for brain disorders, the analysis of magnetic field data collected by magnetoencephalography (MEG) sensors to extract valuable information about the brain, digital diagnostics for cancer and infectious diseases, a digital platform for the clinical assessment of bone marrow cytomorphology and more.
During the seminar, Prof. Renvall delivered a presentation titled “Towards clinical artificial intelligence: Boost for brain diagnostics.” Prof. Renvall explored the potential of AI in neurological diagnostics and provided insight into the AI-Mind project, which sparked great interest among the audience. A productive discussion took place on the topic of data availability for the research. The further discussion and exchange of ideas highlighted the significance of the AI-Mind project and its potential impact on the field of healthcare.
The FCAI is a community of experts in artificial intelligence in Finland, founded by Aalto University, University of Helsinki, and the VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland. FCAI`s research programme “AI for Health” aims to revolutionize medical care through personalized medicine using AI. The programme includes the following research initiatives: Agile probabilistic AI, Simulator-based inference, Next-generation data-efficient deep learning, Privacy-preserving and Secure AI, and Interactive AI.
